Deserted Places
There was a time in Galilee when Jesus was quite popular. He was busy healing sick folk, removing demons from possessed people, and preaching in Synagogues. But the Bible tells us that he often slipped away from the crowds and found a deserted place to pray.
I think He would feel He had found in our Church buildings the best places to pray were He still among us in flesh and blood. When it comes to prayer (read: prayer meeting) our Churches are often nearly deserted.
Texas Governor Perry has called for a prayer summit. I wonder if the thousands who will fill that place for that time are faithful to the prayer times in their own Churches. . .assuming, of course, that their Churches still have prayer time. . .which is probably a dangerous assumption.
When is the last time you joined your Church family in real, concerted, committed prayer?
