Doing Nothing
I remember listening faithfully to Paul Harvey (ABC News Commentator) when I was in College, and up until his death. I watched him on TV, read his books, and attended his speech at Oklahoma Baptist University when I was a student there. I admired his oratory, his intellect, and his morality.
A phrase he often used (and being an “English” minor), I took quite seriously. He would say, regarding this issue or that, “We are not doing nothing.” To many, I am sure, it sounded less than profound, but it was important, grammatically correct, and always quite succinct.
I often think about that when I talk about what the Church of Jesus Christ is doing in American society. The truth is, we are not doing nothing, but we are not having much impact either. In Churches all over this great Nation Christ is clearly proclaimed. His Truth is clear. His call is evident. Yet, America continues to sink into the abyss of immorality, and worship at the shrine of humanism.
So, if you are “not doing nothing,” keep at it. If you are doing nothing, stop it – and do something. After all that God has done for us, surely we can do more in His strength and power to affect those around us.

How true, how profound, the pitiful impact our Churches, for the most part (except FBCOrlando, for example) are having to stem the surrender of American morals and God’s laws in society. God, grant us wisdom!
