Eating Disorders
It is a wonderful thing that the Science Community is always busy developing new diseases/disorders to handle the way we live our life. I am especially exited about this “new” one – maybe it will lead to a little help with my “disorder.”
[Bob] “Krause likes peanut butter, crackers, grilled cheese sandwiches, chocolate milk and little else. More adventurous meals look like ‘a plate of barf,’ he told LiveScience. ‘If I could snap my fingers and change, I would,’ he said, explaining his pickiness helped ruin two marriages, limited his career options and makes most social occasions sources of stress. Researchers think Krause could be one of thousands suffering from a previously unrecognized illness: selective eating disorder, more commonly known as very picky eating. Instead of having a couple foods they’d rather avoid, the way most of us do, people with selective eating disorder feel there are very few foods they are even capable of eating. Maybe there is hope for my disorder. I call it “Inclusive Eating Disorder.” There are very few foods that I am not capable of eating. I do have favorites, of course – ribs and snickers, coconut pie, 688 flavors of ice cream, and double chocolate coated peanuts. But the real truth is – I will eat almost anything (except green stuff, of course). . . and lots of it.
Now – if we could only discover and apply that same passion to that which Jesus proclaimed to His disciples when they invited Him to eat – He said, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work.” John 4:34.
Nothing satisfies like that!
