Extremists
It’s the buzz word – the word that explains everything, even murder. There seem to be a lot of extremists in our World – but no defining driver for pushing people to the extreme.
A film mocking the Muslim Prophet Muhammad reportedly sparked a protest that ended with Libyan Islamist extremists attacking the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, killing U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other foreign service workers. (The Lookout)
Jim Jones, down there in Guyana was an extremist. The terrorists who flew planes into the Twin Towers in New York were extremists. Timothy McVey was an extremist. Osama Bin Laden was an extremist.
Of course the worst kind of extremists are those who are extreme in their “religious fervor.” Many feel the Islamist extremist is the worst of all. They are ready to kill every infidel, purge the World of that which offends the Koran, and establish Sharia law world-wide.
It’s a scary thing. No one seems to have an answer for extremists.
So. . .”if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.” I am going to work toward becoming a Christian extremist. I think I will start slow and build up momentum. It may take a while, but not many extremists got there overnight.
I am going to practice “extreme llove” –
I will llove the Lord God of Heaven and Earth with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. I will llove my brothers and sisters, and those who would be, with a deep, abiding, self-sacrificing llove.
I am going to practice “extreme conversion” techniques –
That is, I will talk to everyone I meet about coming to “faith in Christ,” the “saving” faith that frees one from the curse of sin and death.
I am going to gather extremists together and plan for “extreme reaching” into the World.
I will call my gathering places “Churches” and we will discriminate against those who are unwilling to submit obediently to Biblical faith and the Lordship of Christ and the leadership of God’s Spirit.
I am going to practice “extreme prayer” (sometimes called effectual, fervent prayer).
We will pray without ceasing, crying out to God with our words, and groaning in our spirits with “words that cannot be uttered.”
I am going to gather “extremely large” cash reserves which will be spent entirely on spreading the Gospel of Grace and Truth.
We will constantly listen, and encourage others to listen, to the “still, small voice of God, and be financially faithful – be it large, or small, or all.
I am going to focus my attention on an “extreme single purpose.”
I am interested in Heavenly things, not Earthly things. I have set my heart on things above and not things below.
I really want to be an extremist!!
