Financial Accountability
Tom Krisher, AP auto writer, said today – “House Democrats have encouraged Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson to adopt accountability provisions included in a House-passed auto bailout bill — the product of a deal with the White House — as a condition to get the loans.”
Let me see if I can get this right. Congress wants the auto industry to adopt “accountability provisions” before they can get a loan. Congress has knowledge regarding “accountability?” I am shocked! So here’s the deal. The most profligate of spenders, the most enormous of all money wasters, the kings of pork and financial self-aggrandizement, want the auto industry to be more “accountable.”
I understand that Chrysler is going to shut down for a month and see if they can recoup some resources. Here’s my idea. Let’s shut Congress down for a year and take the billions saved and invest it in the auto industry. That way we save the auto industry and serve the Country admirably.
This whole thing reminds me of the TV evangelist who lives in a palace, drives the most expensive cars, has two to ten airplanes, and needs hundreds of employees to keep track of his money, asking poor people to “invest a seed” in his ministry, and as a result of their “faith” they too will become rich.
There’s no moral authority in either case! Is this society being run by crooks, or what?
