Free Lunch?
You have heard the old adage – “There’s no free lunch.” Right now there are a lot of consumer items that offer 0% interest when you purchase. The Federal Reserve is toying with the idea of a .50% rate or less on the money banks loan banks, and Congress and the President’s administration seem intent on loaning money to “big three” automobile companies on top of the billions that have seen their way into big business’ pockets already. Some say it’s “free money.”
Meanwhile, the economy stumbles along trying to figure out whatever happened to free market enterprise, capitalism, and competitive excellence which leads to success in any free market.
While I’ll be quick to admit I don’t know much about economics, I do know the only thing in this world that is absolutely free. The grace of God! Christmas is a great time to talk about that because God’s greatest gift to men is remembered and celebrated during these days. Grace has been around longer than anything else. The very first man who existed received it. The very last man to stand on this planet before it disolves into a new creation will have experienced it. You have experienced it, whether you know it or not.
God’s grace! Now there is something that is truly free.
