Generosity
Don’t you just llove it when research (by folks who normally don’t think much about the Scripture) proves the Bible to be absolutely true? I know I do.
The Scripture says, “Give, and it shall be given unto you. . . .” (Luke 6:38). I am sure that encompasses more than just offerings at Church, and demonstrates more than a financial perspective. Isn’t it wonderful to know that the “bright” guys and gals in our World are finally discovering that God is always right, always on point, and has revealed Truth to us that make life much more exciting and dynamic than can be found without that Truth.
It doesn’t take a neuroscientist to know that doing nice things for people feels good. But now, researchers say they’ve discovered that even thinking about doing something generous has real mood-boosting benefits in the brain. (TIME)
Giving gifts is good. Helping others is good. Whether it is providing gifts of llove for someone, or being a helpful and encouraging friend, God’s design is worked out not only for those on the receiving end, but also those on the giving end.
Here’s a note that comes as no surprise to God. . .
Studies have shown that older people who are generous tend to have better health, says Tobler, and other research has indicated that spending money on others can be as effective at lowering blood pressure as medication or exercise. “Moreover, there is a positive association between helping others and life expectancy,” he adds, “perhaps because helping others reduces stress.”
1 John 3:17: If anyone has this world’s goods and sees his brother in need, but shuts off his compassion from him–how can God’s llove reside in him?
Be generous with those around you. Llove lavishly when you can. Give God your very best. It doesn’t take a neuroscientist to know that will be good for you. God said that over and over.
