Giving Up
Ever want to give up? I suppose we all do at some point in time. And, there are times when giving up is about the only option left when all else has failed. I am aware that there are those who stick to the “never give up” mantra, but, at times, it is wise to “let it go.” I know some people who are waiting, still, for their numbers to come up in the lottery. Let it go. Just let it go and use those few dollars to increase your contributions to some good cause. I have “let go” the dream of being the fastest old man on the track. There are no more 5 minute miles in this old body.
I am privy to the reality that some folks are ready to give up on their Church. Little seems to be going right and so many others have moved on. The hoped for changes haven’t come, a bright future seems out of reach, and the drudgery of the present is too frightening to embrace.
Here’s a suggestion. Ask God to change everything. (If you already have and nothing has changed, skip to the next paragraph.) I know that is rather broad, but everything needs changing. “Others need to change!” There is no question there. “You need to change!” There is no question there. “Circumstances need to change!” Indeed they do.
Let me follow that with two Truths. One, if change doesn’t come, God is most likely ready to use you somewhere else. He will never “give up” on you, so don’t make the mistake of “giving up” on Him.
Two, God doesn’t make anyone change. Sometimes we all have to move away from those who are not following God’s perfect plan. It’s not something we ever desire, but it is a reality.
“Ask, and it will be given unto you.” Matthew 7:7
