God’s World
My beautiful bride and I walked to breakfast this morning stopping along the way to see the absolutely perfect sunrise. I have long since discovered that one cannot watch a sunrise for a minute then do something else for a few minutes, then watch the rest. One has to watch constantly – because it changes by the second. If one looks away for a few moments the clouds that looked like embers in a fire no longer do. The incredible colors change so quickly. The clouds move away. The coming light fades the hues with great quickness.
So it is with the things of God. When we are distracted from what God is doing and find ourselves focused on other things, we miss the incredible greatness of His plan for life from moment to moment. It is not that we are detached from what we much do each day, rather it is being constantly alert to how He intervenes in every facet of life.
I think most folks miss sunrise (and sunsets) because we are too busy, or too lazy, or too unconcerned about the beauty of God’s creation. I know we miss the beauty of what God designs to do in our experience and that of those around us. We are just too busy to care – and it shows.
Slow down. Take an early morning walk and watch the sunrise. Get used to watching what God is doing – it is a beautiful thing!
