Great Party
I have to wonder how anyone could think a party in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico would be a good idea. I know some parties can be. . .rather entertaining, but really-
Yahoo News reported: “Seven victims were gunned down while attending a family party on Saturday night. Five were found dead inside a car and two were shot to death at the entrance of the home.”
And that is just some of the news, and from this past weekend. If one considers the past couple of years – well, I think I would stay at home, and make sure there were no parties going on there.
The seriousness of the issue of illicit drugs and smuggling on the borders surrounding Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California is almost unfathomable to those of us who are not illicit drug users. However, the quest for drugs in this Country is, to whatever degree, a reason behind the violence.
I have long been a believer that “gateway drugs” are a major factor in the development of illegal behavior. We seem intent on making alcohol, for example, available on every corner. While some would argue that is not a part of the illicit drug problem, it is my opinion that it is. For those who remain skeptical, accompany me to prison on occasion, and lets talk with some folks that know a bit more about it than you or I.
Dallas voted to “go for it.” Money is the issue – but then, so is it in Juarez. God’s Word is clear – sin kills (Romans 6:23a). Oh, if you are one of those folks who think a little booze won’t hurt – let me introduce you to a few drunks.
