Here We Go. . .Again
It is amazing that “Christians” don’t have a worse reputation. Most of the scorn that is thrown our way is probably deserved, especially that bit about being hypocritical.
Now, again, we’ve got a guy who will give genuine Believers another black eye.
(He) believes the Bible essentially functions as a cosmic calendar explaining exactly when various prophecies will be fulfilled. The retired civil engineer said all his calculations come from close readings of the Bible, but that external events like the foundation of the state of Israel in 1948 are signs confirming the date. “Beyond the shadow of a doubt, May 21 will be the date of the Rapture and the day of judgment.”
(This news comes from) a movement of Christians loosely organized by radio broadcasts and websites, independent of churches and convinced by their reading of the Bible that the end of the world will begin May 21, 2011. Associated Press, Tom Breen
While it is true that the Scripture warns us to “watch” and “be prepared,” the emphasis of Biblical Truth is related to what we are to “believe,” and “how we are to live.” God will send Christ to retrieve His Bride at exactly the right moment in history, and it is not our concern, and not within our ability to determine the date and time.
Rather then, let’s focus on how to live a Godly (read: holy) life. Let’s concentrate on lloving one another. Let’s make it a priority to be an effective witness to the Truth of the Gospel – that Jesus Christ has come to set us free from the chains of slavery to sin.
You need to be ready for HIS coming on May 21, 2011. You also need to be ready on January 4th and April 10th and August 9th and September 18th, and . . .well, you get the idea, right?
Oh, by the way, don’t hesitate to remind your friends that He is coming, and it will be soon, no doubt. But the date and time are not in the Scriptures. Even Jesus Christ, Himself, doesn’t know that date.
