Hot! Hot! Hot!
It’s summer time in Texas. That means it’s hot. I don’t understand why that would come as a surprise to anyone that has been here for more than a few months.
Anyway, I heard someone make the statement last week — “It’s hotter than Hell around here.” (Now don’t tell the preacher I repeated that, please). Actually it isn’t. Hardly anyone in the Church talks about Hell anymore. It is not a popular subject and most folks have come to the conclusion that it doesn’t exist (even though they continue to believe Heaven does – which is kind of strange since our knowledge of both comes from the same writer – God) and even if it does, God would not be so unkind as to allow anyone to spend eternity there.
The Bible has much to say about Hell. I won’t give you the details here, you can read them at your leisure, although I suggest you get cracking on that since time to change your mind may be short. One thing I can tell you, according to the Bible, it is HOT. But even more importantly, it is separation from God FOREVER. That is a Hell you can avoid by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
As the sign along the freeway says, “You think its hot here?” (signed) God.
