In God’s Hands
In a news report out of Washington, D. C. AFP reported on an interview with Sarah Palin who was the Republican candidate for Vice President in this year’s election. What she said, or is reported to have said, is scary.
“I can’t predict what’s going to happen a day from now, much less four years from now,” Palin said in the interview.
However the devoutly religious 44-year-old mother-of-five said that if God wanted her to run for the highest office, she hoped to be shown the way.
“You know, I have — faith is a very big part of my life. And putting my life in my creator’s hands — this is what I always do,” said Palin, who served as running mate to Senator John McCain.
Putting my life in my Creator’s hands? Did she actually say that? Isn’t that an accurate summation of Romans 12:1 – “present your body a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God. . . .” My pastor talked about that very thing this past Sunday (he’s very much on the cutting edge of the news, and very bright). Is it possible that God might be using the next four or eight years to get us ready for Godly leadership in Government? I know every President talks about a commitment to God in their life, but this lady is talking about her life in God, and that is a fundamentally different thing.
Oh yeah, I know Governor Palin is female. Perhaps we should bone-up on how God uses women to change things – look at examples like Esther, or Ruth, or Rahab, or Mary, or Lydia.
Or, maybe in the next four or eight years we will find a man who has the life style and courage to make such statements. It’s been a really long time. . .
