Thought For The Day

In Your Heart

Who do you have in your heart? Most people who are Believers would say, “Jesus.” And that is a good answer, but there’s so much more. Did you know that Paul appears to indicate there ought to be a few more – maybe a lot more.

In Philippians he talks about your “partners in grace and in the establishment  of the Kingdom.” I am sure we have missed that in so many of our Churches. We see ourselves as acquaintances or friends, but not “partners.” I am confident that is true because it is more unusual than not that we have others “in our heart.”

Paul talks about at least four practices that help us get someone “in our heart.” If you have your Bible handy, take a look at the first chapter of Philippians. See if you can find these practices:

1) Being genuinely thankful for a person in  your life – vs. 3

2) Praying for a person joyfully and with regularity – vs. 4

3) Recognizing that another person is your partner in the grace of God and the establishment of His Church – vs. 5 and 7b

4) Believing that a person is being transformed by God – and will come to perfect completion – vs. 7b

Paul says in verse 7, “It is right for me to think this way about all of you, because I have you in my heart.”

Wow! What if we could say that about the folks around us because we commit to those four disciplines listed above?
