Thought For The Day

Intake and Gifts

Sometimes what we “take into” our bodies is good. Other times – well, you can make your own decision.

A Florida man died Friday night after consuming “dozens of roaches and worms” during a contest held by a pet store, police report. Edward Archbold, 32, collapsed after winning the repulsive contest at Ben Siegel Reptile Store. Archbold, who was competing for a free python, was stricken outside the Deerfield Beach business, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. (The Smoking Gun)

I don’t like snakes! Roaches? Even less!! Suffice it to say, whatever killed this poor fellow, the roaches and worms couldn’t have helped. I never ceased to be amazed what some people will do – and for what reason. Maybe it is my age. Maybe it’s wisdom. I will opt for the latter.

Multitudes of people, however, take into their bodies (and minds) those things that cannot help but harm them. All the while they reject the one thing that “taken into” ourselves make us whole, and wise, and acceptable to God. A steady diet of TRUTH, and a wholesome life style is a gift beyond measure. Not only do we experience a better, fuller, richer life, we don’t have to eat roaches to be given the choicest gifts from God. (see James 1:17)

Roaches and worms? No! Thank you. TRUTH, yes! In large quantities, please – and often.
