Thought For The Day

It’s That Time of Year

I often think I have just finished putting away the tree and getting the boxes of  assorted trinkets stowed when my lovely bride reminds me it is time to break out the “stuff” for another Christmas season.

I don’t have a lot (yeah, a little) of problem with “stuff,” unless the stuff becomes the focus, and the one time a year we remind ourselves of the incarnation of God Himself in the image of man, fails to focus our hearts and minds on the reality of what God has done to remind us that He is Savior.

Throughout all of the Old Testament we see God again and again as Savior. Then, in the beginning of the New Testament we are given the particulars of His (God’s) “due time” revelation. This season is a magnificent time to remind ourselves that He came to find the cross on which He would die to pardon us from the curse of sin and death.

If we miss that, we have missed the reason for the season.
