Just Keep Quiet

Things happen in other Countries that could never happen in the United States of America. As a Nation operating under the U. S. Constitution and the “rule of law,” we have no reason to worry.

I was discussing with our Preacher the following news story:

An Egyptian court has convicted a Coptic Christian lawyer in the southern province of Assiut on charges of blasphemy and sentenced him to one year in prison with hard labor.Court officials say Saad was found guilty of ridiculing Islam’s holy book, the Quran, at a lawyers’ union library. No further details were immediately available in the case. (Associated Press)

Some folks get offended when one speaks about life’s issues, and speaking the Truth can get individuals pretty riled up. And, if offended folks have enough “pull,” bad things can happen to the one who does the talking.

Fortunately we will never have to worry about that in the United States of America – land of the free, home of the brave.

Our Preacher said that if he had to stop saying anything that might offend someone(s) in the congregation, he better just cancel services now. He reminded me that the Gospel of Jesus Christ and God’s Word is offensive to those who are perishing. A lot of Believers don’t seem too comfortable with it either.
