Kneeling Inappropriately
There is a time to kneel, and a time to stand up. I wish we were better at kneeling before the Infinite God who lloves us immeasurably, when we are gathered as the Church. Even that is insufficient homage to our Savior and King.
Kneeling (failure to stand), for citizens of the United States of America, during the playing or singing of our National Anthem and/or the attendant display of the American flag, is always inappropriate, distasteful, and disrespectful to those who have purchased our freedoms with their service, and/or their life.
Vice President Mike Pence left a football game in Indiana Sunday after players from the San Francisco 49ers reportedly knelt during the national anthem. (TIME) Good for you Mr. Vice-President!
There are ways and means to “protest” whatever the “flavor” of the month may be by those who are constantly finding fault, but our Nation, and those who serve Her in whatever capacity, represented by our flag, command our respect, honor, and fidelity. The United States of America, flawed as it may be, and sometimes prejudicial, partisan, unequal, and insensitive, creating citizens who are, or believe themselves to be, disenfranchised, is still the greatest and finest Nation in World History. No Nation has ever been more free, generous, supportive, cooperative, caring, open, nor demonstrated more competent leadership than the USA.
We are blessed beyond measure not only by our God, but by the unlimited commitment to greatness of men and women throughout our National history. All who exercise wisdom understand that it is a minuscule minority who have failed to live up to the mandate of our Founding Fathers desire to create the magnificent Nation that is America – land of the free, home the brave.
Stand up, sir, madam, stand up. The Stars and Stripes pass by!
