Let It Snow
What a beautiful morning in North Texas. Unusual, and while distressing to many, I just love snow. I am not reaching for the ski equipment quite yet, but just for the few moments this will last, I am a happy man.
There is nothing in my mind that is cleaner and more pure white (and I guess one could debate the purity of snow these days) than fresh falling snow. If it lasts long enough it coats everything with that beautiful, unspoiled look of newness.
The Psalmist spoke to one of the reasons I feel as I do about snow. In Psalm 51, his prayer to God is, “Surely You desire integrity in the inner self, and You teach me wisdom deep within. Purify me with hyssop and I will be clean, wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.”
Today’s snow will be gone within minutes, but the purity and holiness that comes to our life by the power of God’s intervention is a life long blessing. Just as the rainbow reminds me of His promise, the snow reminds me of His purity. . .and mine, if I will allow.
