Let’s Vote
Disclaimer: If you don’t understand “tongue-in-cheek,” skip this post.
As I understand it, Texas is attempting to implement a law that requires voters to have a photo ID. The Federal Government is saying that is “not ‘gonna happen.” Of course the two major parties in the State are arguing the justifiability of the law with each side believing they have the reasons for their point of view.
Democrats said the law’s primary purpose is to make it harder for students, the elderly and low-income Texans to vote. They view it as voter suppression to help Anglo Republicans keep political power longer in a state where most public school students are Hispanic. Republican leaders said the law is constitutional and designed to protect the democratic process. (Scharrer, Ft. Worth Star-Telegtam)
Why don’t we just let everybody vote. No ID, no registration, no restrictions – if you show up, you vote. Legal residents, illegal residents, the old folks who don’t drive anymore (hence no TX Drivers License for photo ID), teen-agers, kids, convicted felons, even visitors from other Countries, can vote if they can check the box.
Silly, you say? Well the standard seems to be that those who will be disenfranchised by the law need to be able to vote because they require representation in light of their “minority status,” or because they are discriminated against, or because they have no voice. So, who needs to be protected? Minorities? Yes. Old people? Yes (because the new wave is to kill them when they become non-productive). Teenagers and kids? Sure (they are the ones who will have to pay for our runaway Government excesses). Convicted felons? Absolutely (no one is more discriminated against when it comes to getting a job or decent housing). Visitors from other Countries? Why not? (After all, what we decide to do with our “foreign policy” affects them rather dramatically).
Now, what’s next? Let’s get the “activists” busy trying to convince God that everyone should be allowed to vote on who gets to go to Heaven. Maybe they can convince Him that those who violate His law are not so bad after all. Maybe He could place less emphasis on the substituionary death of the Savior to redeem mankind from the curse of sin and death, and just take in everybody – regardless.
Good luck.
