Living Without
Have you ever turned the key of your car to the start position and nothing happens? Have you ever flipped a light switch on and darkness remains? Have you ever opened your freezer to discover the plug was accidentally pulled a couple of days earlier?
The problem isn’t complicated. It’s just a lack of power. Get a new battery, check the breaker, return the wire to the outlet, and everything will be OK (well, you’re probably going to spend some time on that freezer). If the power is available and the connections are right, everything will work as designed.
It is an amazing and curious thing that the people of God, can and will, drift through life without the power of faith. With the resources of Heaven available, the infinite power of the Creator on call, we struggle with unsolved difficulties and incomplete tasks.
Perhaps we need to read again – and understand – the words of the Savior to His disciples in Matthew 17:20, “Nothing shall be impossible for you!”
But then, who could believe that?
