Thought For The Day

Looking Forward

I believe the Lord will return for His Church. If ever there was a time that most of us would welcome His coming, perhaps it is now. Now, before we experience the difficulties endured by so many others over the history of our World.

Here is a quote from Associated Press. I challenge you to change the “name” of the city listed to another city name – Washington D. C., New York, Chicago, Seattle, Dallas, Los Angeles. . .you pick.

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Firefighters doused smoldering buildings and cleanup crews swept rubble from the streets of central Athens on Monday following a night of rioting during which lawmakers approved harsh new austerity measures demanded by bailout creditors to save the nation from bankruptcy. Rioters destroyed or seriously damaged 93 buildings, the Athens municipality said, while police said at least 45 were burned. They included nine listed as national heritage buildings, mostly in the neoclassical style, while dozens of stores and cafes were smashed and looted.

Athens is a beautiful, historic city (I have been privileged to visit there on two or three occasions). I hate to think about it being destroyed and the people of Greece experiencing what has been the fate, in one way or another, of so many Nations in history – save one.

Pray it is not “our turn.” If ever the words ring true, it is now – “God save America.”
