Losing It
I thought I would crack up yesterday when the Pastor arrived in the pulpit unable to find his notes. I hear his wife has asked him to enroll in one of those medical study groups for people suffering from dementia.
Of course, some thought his sermon would be shorter without notes – guess again!
It reminded me however that God’s plan and our plan are not always exactly the same. Some times there is a small difference and sometimes it is wide apart. I know that preaching is a gift (read: supernatural ability empowered by the Spirit) and the Spirit of God must always be in control of the mind and the mouth of those who would speak for HIM.
But even those of us who have “lesser” tasks than speaking for God, must know that for every day, in every detail of life, God has a plan and purpose for us. Obedient under His leadership and direction we are going to fulfil His calling in our life, we are going to be conformed to His image, and we will find our self pleasing to Him. If we stick to OUR notes, regardless of where they might lead, we may, might, could, miss His best for us.
As for the Pastor. . .well he is old, so cut him a little slack, OK?
