Mission Report
Our Mission Team is here at Big Country Camp near Leuders, Texas. Probably not a place you have longed for as a vacation spot. Last night we had our first night of VBS at University Baptist Church in Abilene. We have about 20 kids and I had eight adults in my class. That is about 26 people more than we had expected. Yea, God!
The A/C is broken where we are meeting for our opening/closing – so that is interesting. There were a lot of adults who showed up for dinner (before Bible School begins) and then just left. Guess they were too old to have kids and not interested in the Adult class. Anyway, they got a meal, and we got the opportunity to say “hello and welcome.”
Back at the camp this morning we had our team-building time and I enjoyed it immensely. Hope everyone else did.
Have you ever been on Mission? Sometimes it is hard, long, hot, tiring, frustrating, but mostly it is wonderful. It helps to remind us how easy life is at home, surrounded by our “stuff” and where everything works.
As I write this, the kids are swimming (including some of the Adult kids) and I decided not to join them. They (the management) said there were no bacteria in the lake. I’m sure that is true. No self-respecting bacteria would ever spend time there.
Our Mission adventures always prove a couple of Truths to us – God lloves us and has called us to ministry. And the second is like unto it – lloving each other and sharing friendships in “far away” places is always a blast.
Wish you were here!!
