Thought For The Day

Moral Decay

This particular writer has often spoken of the moral decay that is destroying individuals, families, institutions, businesses, and even our Government. The Legislative Branch of Government, with the urging and support of the Executive Branch, is moving us ever more quickly toward multitudes of changes that are destroying our society while a significant portion (my way of saying “most”) of the population wanders blissfully along thinking someone will surely fix the problem(s).

I have always been a closet fan of Walter E. Williams. His commentary is mostly “right on” and often a bit salty, which is always to my liking. He tends to see things from a unique perspective, I think, and makes his opinions clear without being mean about it. Read just a couple of quotes from his work – COPYRIGHT 2009 CREATORS SYNDICATE, INC.

“Most of our nation’s great problems, including our economic problems, have as their root decaying moral values. Whether we have the stomach to own up to it or not, we have become an immoral people left with little more than the pretense of morality. You say, “That’s a pretty heavy charge, Williams. You’d better be prepared to back it up with evidence!” I’ll try with a few questions for you to answer.

Do you believe that it is moral and just for one person to be forcibly used to serve the purposes of another? And, if that person does not peaceably submit to being so used, do you believe that there should be the initiation of some kind of force against him? Neither question is complex and can be answered by either a yes or no.”

Dr. Williams continues to press the point that those who are working hard, paying their taxes, and living in the style to which most older Americans have become accustom, are seeing more and more clearly that what they have worked so hard to achieve is being taken in ever increases increments to support those American citizens and other non-Americans peoples who refuse to, or choose not to, provide for themselves with the same kind of hard work and thrift. Hence, one is used to serve he purposes of another – and always with the understanding that “force” will be used to make such service mandatory.

He concludes with this telling statement. I am sure I have said it before, but hear him say it as well. Consider the kind of world your kids and grand-kids will live in.

“I am all too afraid that a historian, a hundred years from now, will footnote America as a historical curiosity where people once enjoyed private property rights and limited government but it all returned to mankind’s normal state of affairs — arbitrary abuse and control by the powerful elite.”

There is only one solution. And it is coming! God will bring to judgment those who are His, and those who are not. The outcomes will differ greatly. If you’re not sure what those outcomes are, you might want to check our His (God’s) book on the matter. It’s a real page-turner.
