Thought For The Day

No Power

Don’t think for one minute that Jehovah God has lost His power. The one who spoke the Cosmos into existence, created and maintains everything that exists, and sacrificed His only Son to satisfy the guilt of mankind -raising Him from the dead to an eternal Lordship over all the Earth, has not seen a diminishing of His power. Not now, not ever.

And – hear me clearly: He is never short of financial resources to empower that which glorifies Him through an accurate proclamation of His Truth.

GARDEN GROVE, Calif.—Crystal Cathedral, the megachurch birthplace of the televangelist show “Hour of Power,” has filed for bankruptcy in Southern California after struggling to emerge from debt that exceeds $43 million. In addition to a $36 million mortgage, the Orange County-based church owes $7.5 million to several hundred vendors for services ranging from advertising to the use of live animals in Easter and Christmas services. A great example of what the Church “was not” intended to be. The “Hour of Power” was never really about God at all.  The desire to move beyond God’s calling for His Church is strong when men focus on themselves and their desires rather than reaching men and women with the Gospel and the message of self-sacrificing obedience. Robert Schuller’s message was always “man-centered” and it appears his off-spring have not changed. Once again it gives a “black-eye” to God’s surpassing llove and generosity.

This is not the first – nor will it be the last. Within days after Christ established His Church, men begin to place themselves at the forefront. For some, nothing has changed in 2000 years.
