Thought For The Day

On Mission

Yesterday a bunch of folks, mostly teens, left for their annual mission adventure.  While their trip will not take them to a “foreign” field (like Oklahoma), they will find themselves among folk they do not know, accomplishing a task for which they may never see the final result.

Our Pastor talked to them about the shirts they were wearing – especially designed for this particular trip – reminding them that the writing on the front spoke both of God and our Church. He told them that people often judge us by what we wear and that consequently they must be sure to be excellent representatives of both God and our Church.

I was reminded we all all have that responsibility – regardless what we wear. We can be sure people are making judgments about us – what we wear, what we say, how we behave, and our overall attitude regarding life, speak volumes.

As you move through your day today or tomorrow, will others see Jesus in you? Will the people around you be drawn to the life of Christ by the reflection of His nature in your words, action, demeanor?

Just as those teens and their sponsors represent our Church, so we represent our God and Savior.  We might want to check our. . .selves.
