Our World. . .or His
When I began to look at News stories this morning – I saw the following:
- Japan quake-tsunami death toll likely over 10,000
- Officer dies after shooting in suburb east of NYC
- Giffords makes ‘leaps and bounds’ in recovery
- State Dept. urges Americans not to go to Japan
- Libya seeks Italy’s help with fire at oil facility
- Lehman probe stalls; execs may escape charges
- Obama tells GOP: Nice try on health care records
- 1,900 of those gilded, gold-stamped royal wedding invitations were sent out last week
We live in a World where anything can happen – and usually does. Many are concerned about how each item of news fits into the scenario of “end times.” And, perhaps, one would be wise to do so, but as for me, I am much more interested in how we can best utilize the time remaining for our World.
If it is a few weeks or months, or a thousand years, those who belong to Christ have an awesome responsibility to reach out to others with the Gospel, the “inasmuch” ministries of the Church, and to live so that we continue to be transformed into the likeness of our Savior.
Our World continues on the course established by its Creator. Nothing will change the circumstances or the time. We must live as though the time is short and the opportunity long. We must work – “for the night comes when no man can work.” We must press forward with fervent intensity. It is our calling and our mission.
