Scripps Spelling Bee is on going and it is exciting to see that there are children in our National Education System that can actually spell. I have noticed that a significant number of kids (not to mention adults)  have great difficulty with spelling. It’s not that spelling is vitally important, after all, the idea of writing is to communicate – and that can be accomplished with the latest rounds of “shorthand” that are used by almost everyone involved in on-line social media.
