I believe that education, teaching individuals how to think, plan, prepare, build and create while performing the essential tasks of communication, has been an indispensable factor in the rise of the United States of America to the greatest Nation on Earth. Schools of the past must have, according to the evidence, done an effective job. We did not arrive where we are by chance. Now we are losing out in the race for “best.” Other Nations score better in testing in multiple areas of academic pursuit, especially at the lower levels (where, of course, initial learning occurs).
