I heard someone say recently that he had his “fire insurance,” and he meant by that he was certain (well, nearly certain, sorta kinda) his salvation would keep him from the “eternal fires of Hell.” Besides being crass and unthinking, it belittles the infinite grace of God and handles with carelessness the sacrifice of Christ on Calvary. Now beyond that, it is nothing like insurance. I was talking with an insurance company very recently and noted some of the differences.
