Thought For The Day

Photo Slideshow

I asked a friend (a teen-ager, of course) if she would teach me how to create a slideshow on my MacBook. I had seen some of her work and I wanted to be able to duplicate the effort. She quickly agreed and soon gave me a written step by step instruction sheet. She also volunteered to meet with me at my convenience to clear up problems, assist me in learning, or help in any way.

Being a person who can read, and sometimes follow directions, I decided to start the process. I had seen (sometime earlier, quite by accident) some pictures on my Mac (not the ones I wanted or was hoping to find) and took step one.  1) Open iPhoto. Everything went downhill from there.

The second step was clear on the instruction sheet. 2) Go to File, then New Album. Well that was a little too much for the first lesson so I put it away for a couple of hours. When I began the steps again, I made it all the way to 3) Download all photos into the album. Well, truth be known, I can’t find the photos now. Enough for today. Tomorrow is going to be a good day to complete the slideshow.

I couldn’t help but be reminded of how so many of God’s people are in exactly the “same boat” regarding God’s Word. They pick it up to read, learn, understand, inculcate and practice living Truth. Somewhere – near the understand part – the whole thing begins to break down. Understanding is not happening. And when that is the reality, getting to “living out the Truth” is a long way off.

Let me give you a hand. Find someone or someones who are living out the Truth in their daily walk. Find a person or people who have learned how to inculcate God’s Word in their hearts and live each day by the principles found there. They are people with peace, joy, comfort in life’s difficulties, and a desire to help others find the same treasures. Be careful. There is a World full of folks who are just “fooling around” with the Truth. There are also people and places you can trust with your journey toward spiritual maturity.

If you don’t know where to start – drop me an e-mail. I have a suggestion or two.
