Poetry
When I was an undergraduate student my degree program minor was English Literature. I read a lot of books, and even more poetry. One of my “tasks” was to read a poem, ascertain what the author was saying, thinking, describing, promoting, feeling, hoping the reader would see and figure out, why it was written, and whether or not the Poet was happy or unhappy with his/her work and life”. Well, at least it seemed that way at “test” time!
I never was real good at that. I always had an idea as to what the Poet was saying and thinking but my concepts didn’t always agree with what the Professor thought was being said and thought. You can imagine which one of us was “always right.”
I am so glad we don’t have that problem with the revealed Word of God. Not only is Scripture clear, logical/rational, cohesive, and precise, those who are the children of God have within their innermost being the Spirit of God (the Author) Himself (see John 14:26) to enlighten, inform, teach, and reveal the Truth with perfect accuracy.
We (God’s’ children) have no reason to misunderstand, or remain uninformed regarding the Truth. While it does take commitment and attention, learning God’s design for us as individuals, and comprehensively for His Church, is a matter of discipline and work.
If you are unsure of God’s plan for you personally, get in a Bible study group where the Teacher knows the Author personally, and has spent quality time learning to proclaim that Truth with accuracy and authority.
I can promise you it will be a revelation!
