Right. . .and Wrong
I did not get to hear all of the President’s speech last night, but I want you to know I know he was right when he said, according to Yahoo News,
“Know this, America: Our problems can be solved,” he told thousands of delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. “Our challenges can be met. The path we offer may be harder, but it leads to a better place. And I’m asking you to choose that future.”
I am sure he and I would interpret those word differently, use them in a different context certainly, but they are true.
Our problems can be solved. There are no problems that cannot be handled by the infinite God to Whom we pledge our absolute allegiance and obedience. Jesus said the path was narrow – and the lives of Christ’s disciples have always included the challenges and hardness of coping in the wicked World in which we live, but the path of obedience leads to a better place, a place the Scripture calls Heaven, where God dwells in majesty and splendor and His children dwell in mansions prepared for them while eternity gives time to worship and adore the Creator of life.
Your choice for President of the United States will be a crucial choice. That one elected by the votes of this Nation, will bring about significantly different results than the other. Your choice to follow Christ, to submit to the Creator, Sustainer, and Provider of Grace sufficient for redemption, will bring about a significantly different result than failing to do so.
No matter your choice in the former matter, don’t fail to accept Life in Christ. “And I am asking you to choose that future.” (Ibid.)
