Run On
By the time you read this I will have most likely finished the 5k race over at the Catholic Church. My running partner is trying to teach me the difference between a race and a run. Knowing the kind of physical shape I am in (watch your mouth) she will encourage me to think of the endeavor as a “run” and not a “race.” I, however, think of every run as a race. There are some 80+ year old ladies on the course and I am going to leave them in the dust!
The writer of Hebrews reminds us that we are part of a “race” called life, and we must run with endurance, and always “keep our eyes on Jesus the source and perfecter of our faith.” (Hebrews 12:2)
Let me encourage you to “suit up.” Lay aside the sin that so easily ensnares us, and put on the whole armour of God. Make sure you are surrounded by witnesses to the victory that is ours in the Savior; they will encourage you to “win.” Along with God’s Spirit, they will help to keep you from losing heart and growing weary.
That’s exactly what my running partner does every time we “run.” And that’s exactly what my “family” does every Sunday when we gather to worship. Find out how at your local Bible-believing Church.
