Thought For The Day

Safety

Average citizens (whatever that means) find themselves in what I believe to be a precarious situation. How can one protect his family, himself, and perhaps others, when an environment is being constructed that limits one’s ability to make determinations of danger without making assumptions regarding the “look and feel” of circumstances?

Churches can be (read the statistics available elsewhere) dangerous places. As a place where locks are seldom used, guests (of unknown origin) are always welcomed (at least at some Churches), and the normal considerations of dangerous behavior are to a great degree ignored, is it possible to “relax” and know the peace which gathering together to worship should induce?

I could speak (write) long and loud (I just use capitals for loud, right) about “trusting” in the security of being in God’s will and purpose, and I do speak of that frequently. I, personally, have little to no fear for my own safety, but tend to worry about the safety of others, even though I do trust fully in God’s provision.

Only a foolish person would fail to be vigilant in light of today’s society. It is therefore an unnerving reality, in light of our current focus on wise perceptions being criminalized, that fears are engendered in maintaining such vigilance.

Heaven help us – as our society rushes toward judgment.
