Saturday Next
As I write this on Wednesday morning I am aware that the latest projection on the “Rapture” (the visible, worldwide return of Jesus Christ to claim His bride, the Church) expects this coming Saturday (May 21) to be the date.
What’s a Believer to do? I was intrigued most by this comment which I read in an online story –
NPR recently reported on another one of Camping’s followers, 27-year-old Adrienne Martinez, as saying, “Knowing the date of the end of the world changes all your future plans.”
Now that is some interesting thinking! In the midst of the reality that Christ will return (the Bible just does not tell us when) and that it could be Saturday (though I am willing to wager it isn’t), I have to admit it could change your future plans. ‘Ya think? With a significant portion (if we are to believe what we are told about people’s relationship with the Savior) of the people gone from this World, and the realization that Evil will be unrestrained, yeah, I’m guessing your plans might change.
I’ve got a different (read: better) idea. When it doesn’t happen, change your plans anyway. Plan to learn everything you can about the Truth. Plan to get yourself involved in a Bible believing/teaching Church. Get busy about the task of being conformed to the image of Him who will return – someday. Learn how to be strong in ministry to the Saints and those who are not. Pray, witness, give, grow in faith, hope, and llove. When you have come to “peace with God,” turn your days in to a crusade for knowing the “peace of God.”
That might make this whole silly Saturday idea worth while.
