Say What You Mean
Words mean things. As “believers” we have to say what we mean and mean what we say. Attempting to make “politically correct” statements is beneath our intelligence and far below our “calling” as spokesmen for the Truth.
If we are going to consider Rick Warren a leader among believers, I want to make sure I understand exactly what he is saying. Is that not fair? Pastor Warren can hold any position he likes, but I want to know where he stands on the Truth.
Regarding his invitation to pray at the Presidential Inauguration, he is reported (by AP) to have said: “We’re both willing to be criticized in order to try to bring America into a new day of civil discourse and to create a new model that says you don’t have to agree only with your side on everything,”in a video posted Monday night by Saddleback Community Church. That follows the reporter (Zoll – AP) commenting, “Warren said that disagreeing with gay-rights activists on same-sex marriage does not qualify as hate speech and doesn’t mean he is anti-gay.”
Homosexuality is sin according to the Scripture. I, for one, am anti-sin. (I am also opposed to robbing banks and divorce. Sin is sin) I need to know if Pastor Warren is a supporter of that Truth. I don’t need a “new model” and I don’t need the agreement of others. I need only to be clear on what God approves. Period, paragraph.
