Seeing God
Show me God!
The Apostle Paul would answer that statement with ease. Albeit it seems to be more difficult for us. But it should not be. The Scripture is clear that we can see God (i.e. clearly understand His essence and nature) in two distinct ways. Most of us have little struggle with the first, but the latter method is a bit more difficult.
First, Paul tells us in Romans1:9 ff, “His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what He has made.” Paul is talking about the beauty, the grandeur, the exquisitely complicated universe from the vast, seemingly endless pannorama of space to the exceptionally tiny quark in every atom of His creation.
Secondly, in Ephesians 2:10 we are reminded that “we (meaning here, Believers) are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus. . . .”
What we must understand is that the same word, “poiema,” is used in both instances regarding what “is made,” and what is His “workmanship.”
To put it plainly – when I see the Universe, its awesome display of accuracy and precision, and know it is the handiwork of God – I am awed. And when I see you – the workmanship of God, and your Spiritual power and giftedness in Christ Jesus, I am equally awed. Indeed, I am seeing God – as He continues to reveal His marvelous and amazing grace.
