Set The Record Straight
Rick Warren has a huge audience. Is that by God’s design? I hope so. Sometimes I wish my audience were larger than the precious few from which I occasionally hear (my wife, my kids, a friend or two). I am sure that IS by God’s design.
There is a bit of controversy now about whether Pastor Warren supports the Biblical position regarding marriage (God’s vehicle for a man and woman to become one person) or if it can and should include other concepts which result from man’s sinful proclivities. He (Pastor Warren) appears to be speaking with a double mind (see James 1:8). Let me be quick to say, I have not talked to Pastor Warren. I have only read the reports from various media sources — and I may be wrong in assuming they are correctly reporting his words.
Here is a quote from OneNewsNow.com – During his CNN interview on Monday, Warren expressed regret for backing Prop. 8. “There were a number of things that were put out. I wrote to all my gay friends — the leaders that I knew — and actually apologized to them. That never got out,” he admitted. Additionally, Pastor Warren said he did not want to comment on or criticize the Iowa Supreme Court’s decision last week to legalize same-sex “marriage” because it was “not his agenda.”
Set the record straight. One must make his position clear! To say that this matter (and a multitude of others) is “not your agenda” is unacceptable. We are concerned here about God’s agenda. What is His position? What does He have to say about these matters? Pastors, both those who have immense audiences like Pastor Warren, or those who labor in obscurity, are spokesmen for God. His Word is the final authority. No other word or position is relevant. Period, Paragraph.
