Singing Fat Ladies
Now that the incredibly wonderful Texas Rangers season is finished, and the San Francisco Giants are World Champions (if you don’t count most of the World), the Dallas Cowboys season is almost half lost, and the 2010 election is behind us, we can realize that some things are over. . .or soon will be.
There is one thing that will never be over. The Psalmist make that abundantly clear when he says, “He is the Lord our God; His judgments govern the whole Earth. He forever remembers His covenant, the promise He ordained for a thousand generations. . . .” (Psalm 105:7-8)
While we may wish for a different outcome, or be ecstatic about the end of a series of events, as Believers we can always rest in absolute assurance that God is in control. When the “fat lady sings,” or while we hang on to Mr. Berra’s mantra – “it ain’t over till it’s over,” we have perfect peace when our hearts are consistently focused on the Truth that everything (from a winning series to a political election) is in the hands of Almighty God.
When I go to sleep tonight (November 2, 2010) I will do so without undue concern about the morrow. It is in His infinite, lloving, capable hands. What more could one ask!
