Straight Answers
I am pretty sure that “straight answer” means truth. Just tell me the truth. As a husband, father, Church leader, friend, American citizen, (etc.) I think deserve a straight answer.
WASHINGTON (AP) — One of the staunchest critics of government surveillance programs said Tuesday that the national intelligence director did not give him a straight answer last March when he asked whether the National Security Agency collects any data on millions of Americans. (Yahoo News)
I suppose I am not giving a “straight answer” if I say I don’t mean to be critical, but it seems to me that there have been precious few “straight answers” coming out of Washington, D. C. lately.
From all those who “didn’t know anything about it,” to those who “gave the least untruthful answer,” there isn’t much emphasis on the “straight” part.
On the other hand, we can take great joy in knowing that the Word of God ALWAYS give “straight,” clear, relevant answers. I don’t have to worry about “PC,” “twists,” “spinning,” or “. . .depending on what you mean by ‘collection’ . . . .” God has given us all we need to know Him, His purpose, His plan, His standard, and His will. The Truth is as straight as it gets (oh, and by the way, it starts with the “straight” gate).
