Summer Fun
At the Church I attend it is Vacation Bible School time. Sometimes I hang around to watch the fun. When that many kids show up for a couple of hours – well, let’s just say – it can be fun.
Last night I was watching the “music” sessions. Tuesday night’s “theme” song was the venerable old hymn, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.” Watching the kids (and adults) singing and “signing” along with the music was pretty special. After a couple of other serious songs, the “fun” songs begin. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud as everyone stomped around in “Father Abraham,” rolled on the floor during a song that includes “cow tipping,” and, of course, enjoy the antics of every one’s favorite – “Baby Shark.”
I could not prevent my mind’s wandering to how different it is and will be for those kids out in the “real” world. The “education” they will get from friends and those who are not, will tax their ability to remain “childlike” as long as they should. When they are teens the pressure of peers, the constant assault of our society’s evil ways, and the filth spewed by the reprobate minds of adults, will test their will to remain pure and holy.
These are special days in the lives of our children. Thank God there are adults who give time and effort to teaching our children Truth, modeling Godliness, and disseminating unrestrained llove.
I am reminded of how fervently we need to pray for our children – for the world is waiting to corrupt their minds, damage their bodies, and steal their innocence.
May I encourage you to pray? Thanks!
