Team
Once again the reason for the name shines brightly – Team Sports. With certain people in sports it is “all about them.” They (in their opinion, and often in the opinion of others) are the essential ingredient – and without that individual the team is lost.
Not so with the Mavericks. Dirk Nowitzki may be one of the best players to ever shoot a basketball (I personally think so). But he is part of a “team,” and that was never more clear than Sunday night when Dallas won the NBA finals. One can argue that the team without Dirk would be unable to reach this height, and that may be true, but he knows, and we know, that he cannot do it alone or even with two or three others. That’s why we call it “team sports.” Get it?
Church is a “team sport,” if you will. We need each other. Some may be brighter and faster, some may have more experience, but it takes the whole group God brings together in a particular place to move that individual Body toward the goal – spiritual maturity.
There are no “bench sitters” in the Church of Jesus Christ. . .well, there should be no bench sitters. We’re all needed in the task – everyone, and I mean everyone!
