Thanksgiving Comes. . .
Lots of folks have moved on to Christmas. Thanksgiving seems to exist only in the mind of those who have the sense to recognize that God is the provider of all things and has invited us (should I say commanded us?) to share our thankfulness with Him.
With just four (4) days left before Thanksgiving day, perhaps you will want to begin a list (write it, store it on your phone, trust it to you mind, or whatever) of those thing for which you wish to give thanks to God, and for His endless and innumerable gifts to those who are His, and those who are not.
I so enjoyed one of those gifts today. A beautiful, clear, cool morning followed by a warm afternoon of bright sunshine. It was breathlessly still by-in-large, and from my viewpoint the woods was bright with color, the lake shimmered in the light, and the remaining flowers begged for more days like this one before the next freeze ends their life. I raked some leaves, transferred some perennials from pot to ground, and enjoyed chicken salad sandwiches on the porch for lunch.
Almost everyone in my family is coming to the farm this week. My bride will serve the finest food in the world, and I will read to my grandkids, take them on a treasure hunt (I have already hidden the treasure and prepared the clues). We will ride four-wheelers, enjoy a photographic scavenger hunt, and sit by the fire to hear stories of this year’s blessings.
I like Thanksgiving. I want to be specifically thankful, and rest in the peace of knowing God is there, He cares for me (and us), and His bounty to us is immeasurable.
How about you?
