I think maybe I have finally figured out what to do. I am probably not the first, but I haven’t heard it from anyone else. . .so –

A 3-day-old harbor seal pup has been rescued on New York’s Long Island and taken to a marine mammal hospital. The Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation says it received several calls about a distressed seal pup Saturday morning. The female pup was struggling against the surf at The Sands, a banquet facility in Atlantic Beach. The pup was 2½ feet long and her umbilical cord was still attached. (Associated Press)

I am all for saving harbor seal pups. Thanks for doing that!

Here’s my concern. Why was this seal pup “saved?” The answer is in the same article –

Harbor seals are protected under the federal law. . . (IBID.)

Now, if we could just get Congress to pass a law protecting human babies. . .
