The Cross

It was on a Friday in April that from twelve to three o’clock in the afternoon darkness covered the actions of Rome’s soldiers and the Jewish people who had gathered to watch another crucifixion.

In the midst of that darkness, and the reason for it, was God. He had come to Golgotha (Calvary, in Latin) to pour out His righteous wrath and eternal judgment on the sin bearer. On that cross, Jesus of Nazareth, Creator and Sustainer of the entirety of all created things, experienced for all men, for all time, the eternal punishment of God’s justice.

In the course of that action on that day outside the city of Jerusalem, there is one undisputed Truth – It should have been me!
