Thought For The Day

The Power of Cell Phones

It seems as if almost everyone has one. And the chances are that if you have one you use it while you are driving. Most folks don’t go “hands free” so, the hazard is heightened.

Cell phones can hasten your departure for Heaven. . .or Hell. Oh, I don’t mean that the phone has any part in the determination of your destination, rather, you do. Heaven or Hell is determined by what you do with Jesus. Those who come to Faith in Christ Jesus, are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, and indwelled by the Spirit of God, and will move from this life directly into the physical presence of God Himself. Those who have not exercised saving Faith are, according to Scripture, separated from God forever in a place Jesus called Hell.

How does that fit with cell phones?

According to a recent article in the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, – One in 8 drivers is talking on a cellphone while navigating the shifting, narrow lanes of the DFW Connector project through Grapevine, a study by the Texas Transportation Institute has found. That’s more than twice the 5 percent observed on phones in a Dallas study over 10 years ago, according to Jason Crawford, a research engineer who co-authored the study. “We need to get people to pay attention,” he said (emphasis mine).

“We need to get people to pay attention,” that’s the key. Talking on the phone, or 110 times worse, texting, is a quick trip to serious danger. Even more importantly, “we need to get people to pay attention” to the reality that life ends – always suddenly – (breathing one second, not the next) and being prepared to meet the Creator, Judge and Savior is critically important.

The streets are crowded with automobiles, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, even pedestrians. The use of cell phones in that environment is extremely dangerous and the hazard increases daily. Make sure you are ready for “any” consequences of your behavior. . .or that of others.
