Thought For The Day

The Unknown

As far back as I can remember I often looked forward to an adventure. As young parents we often took our children out for a ride in the car on Saturday morning to a point unknown. Heading down a road that led somewhere, but where we did not know, and the destination was where we were at the end of the time allotted.

Fortunately life is not always that kind of adventure. Even though some would have us believe that life is only that, we know better.

Carbon dioxide emissions rose steadily and slowly starting in the late 1880s with the Industrial Revolution, then took off dramatically in the 1950s. In the last three years, levels had stabilized at about 40 billion tons of carbon dioxide (36.2 billion metric tons). “It’s a bit staggering,” said co-author Ralph Keeling, a Scripps Institution of Oceanography scientist, noting in an email that levels have increased fourfold since he was born in the 1950s. “We race headlong into the unknown.” (TIME)

I can appreciated Dr. Keeling’s concern. But here is the Truth that is undeniable:

When the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma, He said to Himself, “I will never again curse the ground because of man, even though man’s inclination is evil from his youth. And I will never again strike down every living thing as I have done.
As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not cease.” Genesis 8:21-22

“Racing headlong in the unknown”. . . not hardly!!

“In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” John 14
