I don’t know much about Twitter (actually that is not true – I don’t know anything about Twitter) but it seems to me that many people are living their lives in a quite public manner utilizing what we know as “social media.” Facebook, Twitter, and a smattering of other media are places where people announce where they are, what they are doing, and often intimate details of their life.
I am not sure I want everyone, or anyone, to know where I am and what I am doing every moment of every day. No, I don’t have anything to hide, but I do have much to protect. I suppose I could gain quite a following by sharing the information and conversations that are a part of my daily work. I can’t imagine anything good in that.
I would rather embrace the quite wisdom which Solomon portrays in his marvelous book of Proverbs – for example:
“Listen closely to wisdom and direct your heart to understanding; for wisdom will enter your mind, and knowledge will delight your heart. Discretion will watch over you, and understanding will guard you.” Proverbs 2 (selected)
Please don’t hear any condemnation in my words regarding how other might conduct their life. As of now, we are free to choose how, and how much, intimate information we confer on others. I choose less. I am sure that is best for me.
